So where would one go to get updates about the TF2 community? Why, here at orz.TF2 of course! Ok maybe not. But we’ll try our best to bring you links to articles or tidbits that we find interesting and useful. We have a couple of links on the right, but here are a few more that you can go to for your TF2 fix:
No scrims tonight, so some of us have been pubbing on the West Coast TheVille TF2 servers all night, or in my case, catching up on some sleep. The team has been busy on our off day (which might become a week?) getting some new content up, go ahead and scroll down to see posts by Chrono and Baldy, our scouts who apparently have a secret longing to main heavy. Be sure to check out Panda’s post about our current situation as a low/mid comp team, as well as why he came up with the idea for this blog. Leia has also been advertising for us on the Control Point and Friendly Fire podcast forums, as well as Reddit! Welcome to you folks, hope you enjoy your stay
I have also attempted to make our site more searchable by Google. Our old site summary is still up though. Any other tips about how to get us more exposure? Feel free to advertise for us too, we would really appreciate it!
And a shoutout to hyperdreams! For being the first commenter NOT from out own team XD For those of you new to our site, welcome welcome welcome! Sign up for a subscriber account, be sure to check out the links to some of our favorite community sites, follow us on Twitter, and of course leave us some messages!
It seems like we’re not the only guys interested in the lobby guys, Community Fortress has just posted an interview with the guys behind the site. Some good tidbits, such as what to expect for the future. commFT is also accepting submissions for their Top Ten plays of the month, so if you have a nice highlight clip, get it to these guys. They’re all really dedicated to covering all aspects of the community, minus the trolls and such that lurk on GotFrag. They definitely all have plenty of dedication and are definitely doing the community a favor and contributing to its growth, so be sure to post on their forums and help them out!
Finally, expect to see recordings of our playoff comms in Mumble (which ALL comp teams should have installed as a voice chat program), as well as demos of our matches, with (hopefully!) some commentary from the team. Stay tuned!
MangyCarface posted on GotFrag that TF2lobby has been updated! Now people can see if there are ragequitters before the lobby match starts. Ever since it started, the lobby system has been a quick and easy way to get in on a 6s game with minimal organization. The skill level (and douchebaggery level) definitely varies from lobby to lobby, but once you get in on a few and find a bunch of regulars you enjoy playing with, it really is a pretty awesome experience. Hats off to FLOOR_MASTER, former griefer, and MangyCarface the mapper who made yukon, and flame, who apparently, according to sigma, can DM now =O, for getting this project going.
Also, a new interview is up on CommunityFortress with CB, captain of Muscle Milk and Moolians, the darkhorse invite team that will hopefully get to go to ESEA-I LAN finals despite frantically trying to find a sponsor right now. Poor guys, it’s always fun to see an underdog team give the top dogs a run for their money, hopefully it works out for them.
Finally, Lange posted the SOAP DM mod over at GotFrag, so those of you with a private server who want to make pre-scrim waiting a little more bearable can put this on
Hopefully later on in the month we’ll put up a post about how we got started with our own private server and other administrative tidbits for comp teams just starting out.
